Sam Spurbeck has been engaged as a professional violinist and served as a violin instructor since 1993. Sam received his bachelor’s degree in music performance from Louisiana State University in 1991 where he studied with Sally O’Reilly. He received his master’s degree in music performance from Indiana University in 1993 where he studied with Paul Biss and Nelli Shkolikova. Sam has served as Director of the Starkville Mississippi Suzuki Program and Adjunct Professor at Mississippi State University. He has also held positions at the Michigan State University Community Music School, the Okemos Suzuki Program, and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. He currently provides private violin instruction in his home studio in Lansing Michigan. Sam has performed in numerous solo and chamber recitals. He has also performed with several Orchestras including the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra (LA), the Memphis Symphony Orchestra (TN), and served as Concertmaster of the Starkville Symphony Orchestra (MS). Currently in Michigan, Sam is a member of the Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Flint Symphony Orchestra, Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra, and the Midland Symphony Orchestra.
