Max Healy

Cello

Max Healy is currently pursuing a M.M. at the University of Michigan under the tutelage of Richard Aaron. He holds a B.M. in cello performance from Texas Christian University, where he studied on a Chancellor’s Scholarship with Drs. Juliette Herlin and Jesús Castro-Balbi. His orchestral experience includes serving principal cellist of the National Orchestral Institute Philharmonic, the Round Top Festival Orchestra, the TCU Symphony Orchestra—and most recently, joining the Lansing Symphony Orchestra cello section.

A passionate chamber musician, Max has participated in many chamber music intensives such as LyricaFest, the Cactus Pear Music Festival Young Artist Program, Camerata San Antonio String Quartet seminar, and the inaugural Texas Chamber Music Institute, where he was a member of the ensemble-in-residence. At Round Top, his piano trio was selected for the “Best of” chamber music showcase. Max is also an enthusiastic performer of new music and has performed with the New Directions ensemble at the National Orchestral Institute and the Contemporary Directions Ensemble at the University of Michigan as well as given solo performances as a member of the TCU New Music Ensemble. Recent masterclass performances include chamber music performances for Nicholas Kitchen, John Largess, and the Telegraph Quartet as well as solo performances for Inbal Segev and Zlatomir Fung.
