Samuel Stover

Bass

Samuel Stover began his artistic journey in York, Pennsylvania where he was born and raised. Interested in literature, visual arts, and music, it wasn’t until age 9 that he first picked up the double bass. Starting off playing a wide array of musical styles, he found a deep love for music. After three years of playing, he began to take private lessons with Inez Wyrick and later, Dr. Donovan Stokes in Winchester, Virginia. Moving to Ann Arbor in 2020, Samuel went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in music performance from the University of Michigan. Here he studied with Maximilian Dimoff and Dr. Nicholas Walker as well as various faculty who played a crucial role in increasing his passion for the arts.

Currently, based in East Lansing, Samuel is working on a master’s degree in performance at Michigan State University under Kevin Brown. Samuel has also performed with various chamber groups and other orchestras including the Adrian Symphony, Jackson Symphony, Toledo Symphony, and West Michigan Symphony.
