John Robinson

Trombone

John Robinson started playing the trombone at the age of 10 in his hometown of Bloomington, IL. John received his bachelors in music degree from Millikin University studying with Gary Shaw, his masters in music from the University of Utah studying with Mark Davidson and is currently working on his doctorate in music degree at Michigan State University studying with Ava Ordman. As a performer John has played with the Grand Rapids Symphony, Flint Symphony, Saginaw Bay Symphony, Adrian Symphony, Dubuque Symphony and the Millikin Decatur Symphony Orchestra. As a soloist John has performed the David Concertino and the Jacob Trombone Concerto with the Millikin Decatur Symphony Orchestra and was the winner of the 2018 hollis prize for outstanding recital performance. John also has a passion for teaching young musicians and has enjoyed his opportunities as a teaching assistant at the University of Utah and at Michigan State University to influence the musicians of the future.
